Has it been another year? Well, I guess not. It’s been almost 8 months since you’ve gone Home. Since you took your last breath here in our lives we must keep living, and into a life eternal, with The One who created you.
I remember this day, 5 years ago, so very well. We were in our new home in Westerville, OH and we had women over to pray over the rooms in the house. I thought I had to pee a lot but come to find out, on November 19th of 2009, you were born 10 days early!
What a joy! Another boy…Ezekiel Todd. 8.72 lbs…just shy of your big brother, Cyrus…you were just trying to be kind, we’ren’t you? You were always so kind.
What a light. What a joy. What a gift you were and honestly, continue to be…but now, it’s with a side of ache and the clinging of Hope that I will see you again and there will be no end.
We talk of you and often. You are on our minds, you roll off our tongue and forever in our hearts. Some say as time goes on, I’ll forget little by little, but all I know is that I only keep on remembering you more.
Your brother and sisters miss you, too. Your daddy longs for the day to talk to you, face to face. We talk about a day with no more tears, no more sadness and no more death. Heaven, what a day it will be!
Your hair…that thick, beautiful hair. Your eyes, deep and full of light. Your heart, always concerned for others. Your strength, almost unspeakable. Your light, reflecting Jesus.
You have taught me so much…I am following BIG dreams because of you, my boy. I am pushing through fears and trusting God like I have never before with Garment Collective. You, my Zekey-boy are so much a part of this story…what an honor to live out a dream because of a boy like you.
His story is still being told through my Garment Collecitve! If you’d like to be a part of telling his story, and how Jesus, through Zekey’s life, has brought and will continue to help to bring “Redemption For All” please follow along on Instagram, Twitter and like us on Facebook. We’d LOVE to have you join us!
Sometimes, I pray that God would give me a glimpse of you…show me your smiling face again.
I long to hold you again…not as my son, but as my brother.
Until then, I’ll share you with the world for your life shares the One who saved it.
Happy 5th birthday, Zekey-Zoo. I will love you forever…we will meet again.
Thank you, Jesus, for such a gift as Zekey on this earth, if only for 4 years, 4 months and 4 days. I will lay at your feet in thankfulness for the gift of seeing him again.
